Getting Started

1. Installation
  1. Download FocusRuler from our website
  2. Click the downloaded file to run (Click-to-Run)
  3. FocusRuler will install and launch automatically
  4. Look for the ruler icon in your system tray

2. First Launch
  1. FocusRuler starts minimized in system tray
  2. Look for the ruler icon near your clock
  3. Right-click the icon to open the menu
  4. Click "Show Ruler" to begin

Pro Tip: System Tray

FocusRuler runs quietly in your system tray. If you can't see the icon:

  • Click the "Show hidden icons" arrow (^) in your system tray
  • Look for the ruler icon
  • Right-click and select "Show Ruler" to get started

Basic Usage

Using the Ruler
Moving the Ruler:
  • Mouse: Click and drag to move up/down
  • Auto-follow: Move mouse near ruler to position it
  • Precision: Use arrow keys for fine adjustment
Resizing the Ruler:
  • Mouse wheel: Scroll to change height
  • Hotkeys: Ctrl + Plus/Minus keys
  • Right-click menu: Select preset sizes
Screen Overlay
What it does:

Dims the entire screen except the ruler area, helping you focus on specific lines of text.

How to use:
  • Right-click tray icon ? "Toggle Overlay"
  • Or use hotkey: Ctrl+Alt+F11
